Toph and Zuko were at their lockers, talking to each other. School was about to start, and neither of them had seen Aang yet.

“Where's twinkle toes?” Toph asked Zuko. “He's normally the first one at school.”

“I dunno. Maybe he just over slept.” Zuko replied. Just then Katara and Sokka walked up.

“Hey guys, what's up?” She asked.

“Nothing much sugar queen.” Toph said. She saw Sokka and blushed. “Who's this?”

“Huh? Oh, this is my brother, Sokka.”

“Hey.” Sokka said, waving.

“Hi.” Toph said. Their eyes locked, and Toph blushed again then looked at the ground.

“Hey, wheres Aang?” Katara asked, looking around.

“You know what? I actually haven't seen-” Zuko was cut off.

Aang walked up to the group. “Hey guys.” He seemed really tired and had dark circles under his eyes. It also almost looked like he was walking with a limp.

“Aang, what's wrong? You don't look so good.” Katara said worriedly.

“Oh, it's nothing I'm fine.” He replied, looking away. Katara grabbed his arm and pulled up his sleeve. His arm was covered with bruises. He also had a large lump on the back of his head.

“Oh my god, Aang what happened?” She asked, inspecting his other arm.

“I'm fine. I just got a little banged up.” Aang said, almost on the verge of tears. He brought his hand up to wipe his eyes, and cringed at the pain.

“Aang, was it Jet again? Do you want me to beat him up for you?” Sokka asked.

“No, it wasn't Jet, it was my uncle. He was drunk when you guys dropped me off at my house on Saturday, and we got into a fight. He grabbed my arm and threw me against the wall. Then he told me to leave, so I did.” Aang replied. He sighed, and hung his head. Katara pulled him into a hug.

“I'm so sorry Aang.” She said, and rubbed the back of his head.

“Hey, wait, we dropped you off on Saturday, and you said you left. Where did you go?” Sokka asked, concernedly.

“Actually, I grabbed some clothes and a box of cereal, and went to go live in the tree house in my back yard.” Aang said, still in Katara's grip.

“Oh, you poor thing!” Katara said, hugging him tighter.
“Hey man I know what you're going through. I've got a crazy father. I spend most of my time with my uncle. Do you have anyone you can go to?” Zuko asked Aang.

“Well, I did have another uncle, Gyatso, but I don't know where he is. I haven't seen him since I was little.  I've stayed with my dad's brother ever since my parents died.” Aang said.

“Wow twinkle toes. That sucks.” Toph said.

“Well, your going to stay with us. No questions asked.” Katara pulled out of the hug and looked at Aang.

“Are you sure? I mean I don't want to impose...” Aang said.

“Of course I'm sure. He can stay with us, right Sokka?” Katara looked at Sokka.

“Well,” Sokka said. Katara jabbed him in his side. “Yeah, you can stay as long as you like. Our home is your home.”

“Thanks guys. That means a lot.” Aang said. The bell rang. “We should get to class. See ya at lunch Sokka.”

“See ya.” Sokka said, walking off.

Katara, Aang, Toph and Zuko walked to their math class. Katara patted Aang on the back reassuringly.  Aang smiled.
Sorry for the super long wait. I've been really busy with school and SCUBA diving.
This one is kinda short, just long enough to fill every one in. Don't worry, there will probably be more action in the next one. Btw, Toph is not blind in this story. My sis was reading this and apparently didn't figure that out. Please comment! I'd like to know what you think of the story line so far.
